Camille Pissarro signed and dated this landscape 'C. Pissarro. 99'. It is an oil on canvas, 81.2 by 65 centimetres, painted at Eragny in 1899. A hand-made wooden fence leads into a meadow of wildflowers on the left, while on the right two women pick vegetables in a kitchen garden beneath tall poplars. The sky is overcast, with light mauve tints.

After Pissarro's death the picture stayed in the family. Julie Pissarro held it from 1904 as part of the artist's estate, and Ludovic-Rodolphe Pissarro received it from her as a gift in 1921. It later passed to the dealer Sam Salz in New York, from whom Peggy and David Rockefeller acquired it in May 1953.

Christie's sold it in New York on 8 May 2018, as lot 13 in the evening sale of The Collection of Peggy and David Rockefeller, against an estimate of $3,000,000 to $5,000,000. Christie's lists the price realised as $4,812,500. The lot page does not say whether that figure includes the buyer's premium.
