Jacob Jordaens, the Flemish painter (1593–1678), made this oil on canvas of Saint Martin healing a possessed man. It measures 122.5 by 87.5 centimetres (48 1/4 by 34 1/2 inches). Saint Martin stands on a dais between two monks and casts the spirit out of a half-naked man, who writhes as two men and two women hold him. Tetrodius, the man's master, watches from the side in red robes and a feathered headdress.

Sotheby's describes the canvas as related to Jordaens's altarpiece of 1630 in Brussels. The Metropolitan Museum of Art says it is probably a highly finished mock-up for that altarpiece. The altarpiece itself, and the smaller modelli for it, are different objects.

The painting was sold at Sotheby's New York on 28 January 2016, as lot 27 of the Master Paintings Evening Sale, against an estimate of $4,000,000–6,000,000. Bendor Grosvenor, writing in Art History News, reported that it sold at the low estimate of $4 million. Results websites give a total of $4.73 million. The published provenance begins with the owner who acquired the picture around 1980.

The Met says that the painting was shown at the museum in 2016, on loan from its new owner, and was cleaned during that loan.
